Abstract
The 2022 study by Reyes-Ferrada et al., published in Acta of Bioengineering and Biomechanics, evaluates the reliability of a Functional Electromechanical Dynamometer (FEMD) for measuring trunk extensor strength. Testing 31 men across various velocities and ranges of motion, the study found the FEMD to be a highly reliable and stable instrument, offering a portable alternative to traditional isokinetic dynamometers.
This research validates FEMD as a stable instrument for monitoring trunk performance. The device demonstrated 'good' to 'excellent' relative reliability, particularly for isometric assessments and low-velocity dynamic movements, making it suitable for precise athlete profiling.
