Abstract
The 2020 study by Fàbrica et al., published in Frontiers in Physiology, investigates how muscle power changes during squat jumps under positive (adding weight) and negative (reducing weight) loading conditions. The study found that negative loading significantly enhances performance by increasing active muscle power and reducing energy dissipation.
The findings reveal that the lower limbs utilize power differently depending on whether load is added or removed. Training with negative loads (overspeed jumping) is recommended specifically for enhancing the active power components of the muscle-tendon unit.
