Abstract
This 2023 study by Contreras-Díaz et al. provides a detailed dynamometric profile of hip muscle strength in youth soccer players. Analyzing 37 male players, the researchers found that hip strength profiles are position-dependent, with defenders showing higher eccentric strength in abduction and adduction, while forwards exhibited different strength ratios.
Using FEMD technology, this research identifies normative hip strength profiles for elite youth soccer. These findings are crucial for clinicians to identify athletes at risk for groin injuries and for coaches to design position-specific conditioning programs.
