Abstract
This 2024 study investigates the relationship between the natural oscillation frequency of muscles (a measure of tone) and functional performance during sit-to-stand movements. Results indicate that higher resting muscle frequency significantly correlates with better muscle force, power, and work, specifically in isotonic (constant resistance) testing modes.
Isotonic testing appears to be more effective for assessing the relationship between muscle mechanical properties and functional performance in sedentary populations. This provides a potential tool for non-invasive assessment of lower-limb functional capacity.
