Abstract
Chamorro et al. (2018) investigated the influence of assessment position on the reliability of shoulder strength tests using a pulley electromechanical dynamometer. The study recommends testing at 90° of abduction, as it provides superior reliability and lower error for both internal and external rotators compared to 40°.
Positioning is critical for valid shoulder assessment. By recommending 90° of abduction, this research provides a clear protocol for reducing measurement error and ensuring that clinical tests capture the athlete's true maximal torque capacity.
