Test-retest reliability of a functional electromechanical dynamometer on swing eccentric hamstring exercise measures in soccer players:

Sanchez et al. (2021)

Abstract

The 2021 study by Sánchez-Sánchez et al. evaluated the reliability of a functional electromechanical dynamometer (FEMD) for measuring eccentric hamstring strength using the swing eccentric hamstring exercise (SEHE). Testing 19 soccer players across three speeds, the study found the FEMD to be highly reliable, particularly for measuring maximum loads.

This research validates FEMD as a practical alternative to expensive isokinetic dynamometers for soccer clubs. By providing reliable metrics during the swing eccentric hamstring exercise, coaches can better assess injury risk and design targeted prevention programs.
