Abstract

The 2020 study by Bermudez et al. investigated how external loads controlled by an FEMD affect lower-limb coordination and power during Squat Jumps (SJ). The results showed that adding loads changes joint coordination patterns, with unloaded jumps being more efficient for rotational-to-vertical velocity transfer.

The study distinguishes between 'training for coordination' and 'testing for power.' For athletes looking to improve explosiveness, bodyweight jumping is superior for teaching coordination, while loaded jumps (30% BW) are necessary for accurately measuring mechanical power output.
