Abstract
The 2023 study by Rodríguez-Perea et al., published in Applied Sciences, evaluates the reliability of the Horizontal Cable Woodchop (HCW) and the Low Cable Woodchop (LCW) using a functional electromechanical dynamometer (FEMD). Results showed that HCW is more reliable for assessing trunk rotator strength, and while sex influences reliability in certain tests, side dominance does not.
Practitioners should prefer the HCW exercise for consistent monitoring of trunk rotation strength. The study provides a reliable framework for coaches to identify muscular imbalances and tailor training loads to improve performance and reduce injury risk.
